Keep on, keeping on!

Keep on, keeping on!

In these unprecedented times, we’ve been really inspired and (got a bit emotional) seeing how people have rooted together to support each other in the hospitality industry and beyond. We hope everyone is staying safe, keeping well, and let’s do our best to get through this!

BrewDog Distilling Co. has switched up production at the distillery to produce much needed hand sanitiser, for the NHS, local hospitals and charities, seeing over 100,000 bottles donated so far. An outstanding effort I'm sure you’ll agree!

Keeping the spirit of pubs alive (this is the UK after all) and rallying up people’s morale, BrewDog opened its virtual doors last Friday, inviting everyone to share a BrewDog pint or LoneWolf G&T, join tastings and pub quizzes at the BrewDog Online Bar from the comfort of their own home. This will continue every Friday night with drink tastings, pub quizzes and typical BrewDog banter.

Supporting the hospitality industry, Camille Vidal from La Maison Wellness took part on The Booze Brain with a wellness check, is teaching yoga classes for Hospo Live every Monday at 8.30am, and is launching her Mindful Happy Hour live sessions on Instagram every Friday at 5pm. She’s a much needed voice of positivity at this point in time.  Never more so have mindful cocktails and healthy hedonist inspiration been so relevant, take a look the La Maison Wellness social channels for all her amazing updates.

Staying positive and keeping people’s spirits up, The Four Sisters bar will be delivering 4 of their signature cocktails to East London locals, with delicious varieties including a Chamomile Gimlet, Fig Palmetto and Tea Old Fashioned. Follow their Instagram for more details.

Fernet Branca is launching the Fernet Branca Coin Challenge, in support of the bartending community, of which they pride themselves of being a strong part of. Celebrating family, community and the creative flair of bartending, winners will receive a multitude of much-needed cash prizes as well as a reason to flex their artistic side whilst bars are closed.

We want to extend our gratitude to the NHS and key workers for keeping us safe and normalising the situation as best they can.

Welcome to 2020

Welcome to 2020

Summing up the biggest trends on our radar this year, we’ve cut through the noise…here’s what you’ll be drinking in 2020!

No and Low- This year the popularity of low and non-alcoholic drinks will continue well after #DryJanuary as holistic wellness and mindful drinking take centre stage as one of the biggest trends for the year. With this marked change in attitude towards drinking, individuals will be on the lookout for flavour and experience over ABV. New brands of no and low alcohol drinks will continue popping up everywhere as innovation continues. It’s an exciting time for the sober curious as many of the bars in London have begun serving interesting non-alcoholic cocktails.

Sustainability- continues to be a big trend as consumers become more selective of the ways that they experience brands. This year we will continue to see drink brands discover new ways to sustainably source ingredients and innovate more environmentally friendly packaging.

Hard Seltzers- Expect to see more of these arriving in the UK this year (originally from the US where they are a huge trend) in addition to other “hard beverages” such as hard ice tea and hard kombucha. Come summer, we expect to see more Hard Seltzer brands and lower sugar alcoholic rtd’s.

Premium and spiced rums- Gin drinkers are (finally) set to start exploring the world of rum especially in cocktails, like the Daiquiri and Dark & Stormy, alongside spiced rum, looking for more complex and tropical flavour profiles. Premium rum will see a spike as consumers upgrade their rum choice, with more perceived value and quality.

In other news our first event of the year was a full-house La Maison Wellness mindful drinking masterclass hosted by Camille Vidal. During the masterclass we gained more insight into mindful drinking and got to shake up our own delicious non-alcoholic cocktail, packed with Vitamin C and D. La Maison Wellness has loads of events coming up throughout January and beyond, meaning making better choices about drinking ‘rethink your drink’ can be continued throughout the year, check out the website for full details.

Cheers,
